Expelling exogenous evil form the body surface, dispersing cold evil, warming the lung and eliminating the phlegm retention; mainly for cases attributive to the attack of exogenous wind, cold evil and the retention of water, manifested as chilliness, fever, anhidrosis, dyspneic cough with thin sputum, or general edema, pale tongue with whitish and greasy fur.
Uses:
Lowering the abnormally rising of energy and relieving dyspnea, warming the kidney and promoting respiration; mainly for cases due to failure of kidney-energy to regulate inspiration (asthenia in the lower) or retention of cold-phlegm in the lung (sthenia in the upper), which are manifested as dyspneic cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, feeling of oppression over the chest, thin and clear sputum, whitish and smooth fur on the tongue.
Uses:
Supplementing vital energy, promoting body fluid production, astringing yin and stopping excessive perspiration; mainly for the cases with deficiency of both vital energy and yin manifested as hyperhidrosis, thirst, shortness of breath, tiredness and small and weak pulse, and the cases of spontaneous perspiration and shortness of breath due to damage of the lung caused by chronic cough and damage of both vital energy and yin.
